As part of the 375 year anniversary celebrations for Mynyddbach Chapel a Songs Of Praise is being held at the Mynyddbach Chapel on Sunday 4th June at 6.00pm.
We at Mynyddbach are very involved with trying to keep the Welsh Chapel culture alive. For this reason the hymns will all be English translations of the Welsh word to traditional Welsh hymn tunes.
Alun Tregelles Williams will be the conductor and Gareth Sims will be the Organist.
Entry is FREE but a collection will be taken.

Did you know that the non-conformist cause started at Cilfwnwr Farm in 1641 to 1745, then at Tirdwncyn Farm until 1762, then at Mynyddbach’s first chapel until 1866, when John Humphrey built the second chapel, and the present chapel.

Huge thank you to the talented Luke Ryan for his excellent work at Mynyddbach! He has contributed so much to the restoration project. From September 2015 , we will be celebrating 375 years of nonconformity at Mynyddbach. Mynyddbach is the Mother chapel to over 60 sister chapels in the Swansea and surrounding areas. To celebrate this we have been busy renovating the chapel and grounds and on Friday 9th October at 7pm we will be holding a concert with the Pontarddulais Male Voice Choir and special guests. Tickets are £10 on the door. The Concert on Friday will be the first time the reordered and renovated chapel will be used; the renovations have created a very versatile space for concerts, Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms and many other activities. This concert will be held under the banner of the Calon Lân Centre which is a registered charity set up to give communities a sense of belonging and cultural identity using the history of the local area and the story of Calon Lân to bring people together. The Trustees of the Centre have also been busy making the new section of the Cemetery available for new burials and working with CARING FOR GODS ACRE – a national charity set up to help chapels look after their grounds we have made available over 300 new burial plots in the newest section of the cemetery.
We look forward to welcoming you!
We have a new Flickr site and Twitter account which are both linked to our website. Please take a look!
The photographs are courtesy of Ivor Williams who has taken some fantastic shots over the last few years of the ongoing work being done at Mynyddbach. You can see how the building is being transformed. There are lots more photographs to add, so keep watching.
We have also just launched our Twitter account but are a bit short on followers at the moment. If you want to keep up with news on the go then please follow us!
We would like to send our congratulations to Wales on their win last night -amazing! Wales rubgy fans have a repertoire of songs sung regularly at rugby events and you can bet that Calon Lân was being sung not just in Wales but in Twickenham yesterday. What would Daniel James have made of that we wonder.
