Mynyddbach Chapel and the Calon Lân Centre 1640 – 2015

From September 2015 , we will be celebrating 375 years of nonconformity at Mynyddbach.  Mynyddbach is the Mother chapel to over 60 sister chapels in the Swansea and surrounding areas.  To celebrate this we have been busy renovating the chapel and grounds and on Friday 9th October at 7pm we will be holding a concert with the Pontarddulais Male Voice Choir and special guests.  Tickets are £10 on the door. The Concert on Friday will be the first time the reordered and renovated chapel will be used; the renovations have created a very versatile space for concerts, Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms and many other activities.  This concert will be held under the banner of the Calon Lân Centre which is a registered charity set up to give communities a sense of belonging and cultural identity using the history of the local area and the story of Calon Lân to bring people together.  The Trustees of the Centre have also been busy making the new section of the Cemetery available for new burials and working with CARING FOR GODS ACRE – a national charity set up to help chapels look after their grounds we have made available over 300 new burial plots in the newest section of the cemetery.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Rugby World Cup and Calon Lân

We would like to send our congratulations to Wales on their win last night -amazing!  Wales rubgy fans have a repertoire of songs sung regularly at rugby events and you can bet that Calon Lân was being sung not just in Wales but in Twickenham yesterday.  What would Daniel James have made of that we wonder.

You can sing Calon Lân with us on Friday 9 October when we welcome Pontardulais Male Choir for an evening concert.  They are an internationally renowned choir and you can be sure that Calon Lân will feature on the programme.  Please come along and join us for a musical evening!

Date for your diary!

Friday 9 October is a date for your diary when Mynyddbach will welcome Pontarddulais Male Choir for an evening concert.  This promises to be a fantastic evening with this internationally renowned choir entertaining us.

You will also have the opportunity to view the renovations that have been going on at Mynyddbach and you will receive a warm welcome from us!

Welcome!

Welcome to our new website!

There has been a lot of work going on at Mynyddbach over the last few months.  The inside of the chapel and schoolroom have had extensive renovations.  The schoolroom is now looking very smart whilst the work inside the chapel is still ongoing.  However this will be almost complete by the end of September in readiness for a wedding and an evening concert in October.  Details of both to follow.

Next on the agenda is landscaping the grounds – there are lots of ideas and plans afoot on this – including an area for wildflower planting , a grassy area and more formal planting.

A huge amount or progress has been achieved at Mynyddbach and although there is still a lot to do – there is plenty of enthusiasm to carry us forward.
